Bryan Kern

kernMr. Kern founded KPM Financial in 2012 and has been in the derivatives industry, as both a provider and advisor, since 1999. He works with a variety of borrowers from large and complex to small one time borrowers.

Prior to founding KPM, Mr. Kern spent two years with a leading southeast regional advisory firm as Senior Vice President and started that firm’s derivatives advisory practice. Prior to that, Mr. Kern was in charge of Wells Fargo’s Southeast Municipal and Higher Education derivatives practices within the public finance group.

Mr. Kern is fluent in the documentation, structuring, valuation, and execution of new interest rate swaps, amendments, novations, and terminations. His diverse client base includes colleges and universities, nonprofits, senior living facilities, hospitals, corporations, real estate borrowers, and institutional clients.

Mr. Kern has a BS in Mathematics from Davidson College and is a registered municipal advisor with the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board.

Jay Saunders

JS-HeadshotMr. Saunders has been in the structured products business since 1993 and has focused on not-for-profit and municipal clients since 1998.  Prior to joining KPM Financial, Mr. Saunders was a Managing Director at a leading southeast regional financial advisory firm. Prior to that, he was the Director and Head of Municipal Derivatives Origination for one of the country’s largest national banks.

Mr. Saunders’ coverage while acting as a municipal swap provider included several regional territories as well as a national health care practice and a leading student loan practice.
Mr. Saunders is directly responsible for advising clients regarding such products as investment agreements for bond proceeds (construction funds, debt service reserve funds, escrows. etc.), interest rate swaps, total return swaps, OTC options and structured bond issuance.

Mr. Saunders provides services including education and risk evaluation, structural recommendations, documentation negotiation, policy implementation, price verification, transaction monitoring, independent advisory services and solicitation of competitive bids for both derivatives and reinvestment products.

Mr. Saunders is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a concentration in Finance. He is a Registered Municipal Advisor with the SEC and the MSRB. Mr. Saunders holds inactive General Securities (Series 7), Municipal Securities (Series 52) and Uniform Securities (Series 63) Licenses.
